Unfortunately, due to a photography gear malfunction, I was only able to use this product once. My camera harness broke and my camera went crashing to the ground and the Ring Flash broke in several pieces. So I can only review it on the one time I got to use it. The light is really bright, it recycled very quickly, and the image I was able to take looked very nice.

Definitely not high-end, but nowhere near the price of pro equipment. This is a really good product for someone that has never used a ring light and can't see paying for a name brand just to experiment. The flash falls of pretty quickly over a short distance, so a shot at 2 feet is over exposed and at 4 feet is under exposed. The device produces good results if your camera has a manual mode and you are open to taking several exposures to get a good one. The constant light for video is also distance challenged, but will produce good results after some experimenting.

I like to do macco photography, used to do it with film cameras, but it is especially easy with digitals. One thing that always was annoying either way, is that when you camera gets in really close, the subject gets dark, due the camera blocking you light source. This would under other circumstances, want a flash, but there is no way a normal flash can hit the subject, when it is close to the front of the lense. I used to use flash light and the like, and that helps, except that typical gives you oblique lighting, lighting from one direction and makes a shadow on the opposite side of the subject, much like a crescent moon as opposed to a full moon. With the advent of white LEDs, it occured to me many years ago, that I could make a ring of LEDs in a mounting, that carried batteries, and would attach to the filter thread of the lense. I undersand the electronics, and I am a machinist by trase, so this would have been easy for me to accomplish. I even thoougt I could sell my invention on eBay. Years past, an I never got around to it, but commercial LED ring adaptors became available. Recently, I saw this one on eBay, and becasue of it's features, I purchased it to try it out. It is not perfect, by any means, but it does help tremdously, and also works in non macro situations just fine. The light can be dimmed somewhat, but at it's lowest setting is still pretty bright. The unit comes with many different styles of difussers, and adaptors that allow it to fin all sort of cameras and lenses. The batteries are contained in a separate control box, but that is like of cool itself, since that allows different function and a readout to display them The control box mounts to the flash shoe on the camera, of on an indluded separate stand. Most of the time on my digital camera, I just hold the camera in one hand, and the control unit in the other. The worst thing about it in my opinion, is something that one cannot really get around. The LEDs still cast light forward, so if you are trying to do a macro shot, from 1/2 inch away for example, you still cannot light your subject. However, with a digital, this is not a big deal, You just shoot from a little farther away, and set the camera for a high resolution image (high pixel count), and you can crop the image later to suit your need. It is a great product, and I am happy with my purchase,Read full review

It gives the perfect amount of light. I just wish it had a clamp or could stand on it's own. The light and n filters are amazing though. It's easy to use.

It's ok, nothing special, definitely not high end, but fairly low cost. You get what you pay for. It will do the job, just don't expect high performance from it and you'll be ok!
