I had my doubts that they would hold up to my riding conditions. I currently have 3 pairs of this pedal on various bikes and use for commuting and cruising. I have ridden on my first pair for 3 years through rain and winter conditions subject to ice-melting salts. Yes, they are a bit heavier than many similar dual-use pedals but I don't have them on ultra-light bikes either. The pedals always appear to be set to the correct tension for my uses right out of the box. A half-spin on the crank usually brings the correct side of the pedal up as long as you start out with the chosen side on one foot. Plenty of grip on the non-SPD side achieved by threaded Allen screws protruding from the pedal body that have stayed in place, except for one that I managed to rip out by contacting pavement while not paying attention to their width and cornering too steeply. These pedals have taken lots of abuse and are still holding up. Even the bike shop mechanics I show these to are impressed at their durability. They get a shot of spray lube on the SPD parts 4 times a year. I own both the silver and black pairs. The finish is painted and will show signs of wear eventually but this does not effect the function. I will buy again if I need to outfit more bikes and will write back when the first pair fail. At the rate I am experiencing, that might be a few years.Read full review

Stable platform, clip is easy to get into. Gives you the choice of a full pedal or clip in. Other sets do not give such a platform feel.
