This is the second album from one of Japan's popular rock/punk bands. Balzac was supported in the U.S. by Jerry Only from the original Misfits, a New Jersey based punk band. Balzac uses their unique style of thrash punk combined with horror movie imagery both from American and Japanese influences. As Japan is well known for many origonal horror movies which have been remade here in the U.S. Balzac's most prominent feature is their icon of a killer dressed in a skeleton costume with a paper bag over his head while brandishing a butcher knife. While this simplistic image may seem unoriginal and bland it does give the band an interesting iconic character to play off of much like the Misfits own "Crimson Ghost" or even Iron Maiden's "Eddie". If you are a fan of Balzac, this second album is a worthy followup to their 2003 debut "Beyond the Darkness". If you're also a fan of the Misfits and have never heard a Japanese pop or punk band, this is an awesome experience!Read full review
