This 16" china trash cymbal is really cool, You hit it, it makes its sound, then it fades away quickly. It cuts through the drum mix without being overbearing. This is the second one I've bought (my other is an 18"). This cymbal has its own unique sound, and it really compliments the overall sound of my kit.

As a 30 vetern drummer in the club, bar, wedding festival circut, I'm not sure how valuable my opinion is but I 've played chinas off and on for 25 years and found many to have one voice, a good one but, you have to lay into them so hard to get the "Paaaahh" sound and with the force needed to get that cool sound you have gone beyond your intention of a nice effect accent and crossed into the insanely loud territory. I've found most chinas to do this, maybe they are great for punk and metal bands on a stadium stages, but lower volume gigs can be totally ruined by this sound. The oriental trash series however is perfect for me as I can lightly strike it and get the desired sound without the volume, but when you do lay into it, it can stand up without choking out. I have actually sold all my 80's chinas to the kids and have begun replacing them with trashes of varoius sizes... I'm now a happy man! Thanks for reading, lamont9114Read full review
