I was using a Fuji S5 Pro for many years and enjoyed it a lot. But now I feel that a DSLR camera is so big and heavy to carry everywhere, and the shutter noise is huge in some cases. Moreover, I found that I use a 25mm f2.8 lens (equivalent to 38mm) for 95% of my shoots. Then I began to search a small camera with high image quality but has a similar operation to DSLR. A viewfinder is a must! I don't care about the interchange of lenses, 35 mm or even 43 mm is enough for me. I finally focused on the Fuji X100, Sony RX1, Leica X2 and Sigma DP2M/DP1M. Sony RX1 looks very attractive, but no viewfinder (I don't like an external viewfinder) and the price are really a matter. Leica X2 produces super images but no viewfinder and also no macro function. Sigma has the best sensor, but the camera has so many shortcomings. So in the end only the Fuji X100 I can choose. After received the camera, I found the camera fit me perfectly! The Fuji X100 give me everything I want: a high quality 35mm equivalent lens with f2 aperture, OVF and EVF + screen view, super low light ability (ISO to 3200 is OK), 10cm Macro, the internal ND filter, small and light body really a beauty, super manual function like an old camera really a fun, and of course the image quality (beautiful Fuji color and tone, very similar to my S5 Pro + a Nikon AI 28mm f2 lens). Some drawbacks? of course: 1. a bit slow auto focus ability under low light, but I don't care because I used to use manual focus; 2. Long saving time after a shoot when use RAW format, but I don't care (Fuji S5 Pro also very slow); 3. too complicated to put a UV protection glass, and then you have to find a bigger case (it is not easy!); 4. Manual focus is a pain, almost useless. I like manual focus so much; 5. The Menu/Ok button is a pain, the shutter button is a little bit short, the strap has very bad quality. Stingy Japanese!!! 6. although the image quality is super, I prefer the images from my S5 Pro + Zeiss lens more. German lens is there! In the end, if the X100 uses a Fuji Super CCD sensor and a Zeiss or Leica lens, will be really perfect!!! But no perfect in the world, you know.Read full review
Read full review
High quality bridge camera with excellent picture quality included the advantage of smallness. A camera for "all days", I take it with me for nearly all opportunities. Little minus - you need small fingers:-)
