Great deal for a OpenWrt based AP
I'm astonished that so many people do ZERO research before buying stuff online, only to then leave the product a bad review because THEY couldn't be bothered to read a little bit. These are intended to be used with a central controller, this model does NOT have a standalone SSH feature. It only took one Google search to discover this information. Hence why they're so cheap now. Solutions... A: Don't buy this one or B: Install OpenWrt :) I got THREE of these for $25.99. It took a whopping 10 minutes to get OpenWrt installed. It requires a proprietary configuration hardware device (Extreme Wireless Appliance) which is designed to control hundreds of these access points in a large environment. The operational firmware cannot be accessed from a web browser or any other method except for the Extreme Wireless Appliance which costs thousands of dollars. Do not buy this unless you need a door stop or have the Extreme Wireless Appliance.This Access point cannot be configured as a standalone device. I keep searching for a WiFi access point, that is self contained, like Mesh system. No one will be honest about some need controllers. Most of these good deals are out of date and don’t meet today’s requirements.
