I use it as a preschool teacher at storytime. I nurture the children's listening skills and their memory. They choose a letter. We discuss the sound the letter makes (phonics) then only I know who is behind the letter and I begin to give clues about the characters. ....the children love this activity. Learning can be fun! The book displays imaginative 3d pictures artistically presented to inspire imagination.

As a collector and bookdealer of children's books and pop-ups, it is easy to love Robert Sabuda's pop-ups. Sabuda has obviously reached the zenith of paper engineers. ABC Disney shows Sabuda's ability to create small pop-ups with great movement. Each letter of the alphabet has a particular Disney character associated with that letter (C for Cinderella, etc). Intricate detail is seen as you lift each letter flap and view the hidden pop-up surprise! Surprisingly, this title went out of print fairly fast and is very collectable. You'd think that being associated with Disney, they would have had high print runs and multiple printings. But alas, not the case. You can't go wrong adding this title to your collection, and it will only increase in value.
I now have nine of the Sabuda/Reinhart pop up books. This is an early work by Sabuda and while it is masterfully crafted, there's more to be desired. The pop ups are small in 3 1/2" by 5" individual booklets. The paper the booklets are pasted on should be stiffer because it can warp. The booklet paper should also be stiffer. A few of the booklets are bent due to the flimsy paper in my used copy (also a child might have bent it.) The book was bound on the short side which makes for a delicate to handle book. You feel like the pages would fall out. Binding on the long side would probably be better. The cover is very good and glossy for being 11 years old. The pop ups are colorful, cute, and clever, but too small for my liking. Understandably it is an early work. If you like larger pop ups, the later books (Alice in Wonderland, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Chronicles of Narnia) are a better buy. If you are a Disney fan and like anything Disney, then none of what I said probably matters. If I was able to read a review that emphasized the small size of the pop ups, I would not have purchased this book for my collection.Read full review
My pastor collects Robert Sabuda pop-up books. This particular pop-up book by Sabuda is no longer being printed. I was quite excited to find a copy on e-bay....and in "ALMOST" perfect condition. Her birthday was in September, and she was thrilled with the book. The pop-up features are most creative and it's no wonder that Sabuda is called a "paper engineer"--not simply an author. My favorite letter is probably "C" which features Cinderella. I don't know where else I might have found this book....except on e-bay....So, Hip hip hooray for my favorite shopping place, e-bay! This is one of the older popup books by the great paper engineer, Robert Sabuda. I was introduced to his magic by the TV show "Sunday Morning" who did a feature about him. I bought this one to include in my collection and for my granddaughter. Whether you are a collector or have a child in the family who loves the Disney characters you won't be disappointed by this book. This book includes a different Popup Disney character for each letter of the alphabet. One of my favorite of the Sabuda collection.
