  • Best standalone synth if you want to own just one

A great little analog synth all around! Multiple voices, highly variable, a cool vintage look, and it's rather easy to shred solos at high speed using scales of your choice via the stylus keyboard. The ribbon keyboard provides even deeper octave sounds than the stylus keyboard, which is a nice addition to find. It produces sounds which have a really cool vintage '70s tonality--it's even possible to tweak out a strong bass similar to the well known taurus sound, which is a big surprise to hear emitted from this little synth. Due to aux input, it's actually possible to patch through a voice or other instrument--this essentially turns the synth into a pedal effect. Also, it runs quiet--it doesn't produce much stray noise. Quirks? it's a little odd that there is no provision for an outboard wall wart power supply--you do have to run it on batteries. Also, it sometimes emits a powerful pop and dive sound when pressing down the stylus onto the metal keyboard (not the ribbon keyboard)--while this is intentional, does sound musical, and can probably be resolved by adjusting the attack knob, it does cause me to play in a constant legato manner. Overall and especially for the money, this is surely the best standalone synth to have if you want just one.

  • Dubreq Stylophone GEN X-1: The sound of the future your grandparents were promised

If you want to make some exotic electronic tonalities like they did in the good old days, then this is your synth! A built-in delay plus a touch-strip will have you sounding like experimental electronic music from the 1950s and 60s. Lovely retro weirdness and a complete basic synthesizer! all in one tiny package. The sound of the future as envisioned 50+ years ago.

  • What a fun little guy.

Stellar sounds for the price, sounds great plugged directly into something. I have plugged it in directly to the computer to record and through a guitar amp. The Aux in is very useful. I love creating sounds in pro tools to loop through the envelope, delay, and LFO. Two thumbs up.

  • SUPER FUN

Great tool for messing around with bass lines. You can also apply delay, cutoff, and resonance to external audio source. I wish I could power it with a power supply tho. Strongly recommended

  • Fun Pocket Sized (well, almost) Synthesizer

I first saw the Stylophone in 1969. I fInally made my move and bought one, but the new and improved Gen X-1. The unit is a lot of fun. Lots of possibilities. Tuning is a bit of a chore. You have to fool around with it quite a bit to get the hang of how it operates.

  • Houuuurs of fun

I mean, c’mon. Its amazing at any price. Bucket brigade delay goes from clean to as dirty as you can stand. Super spacey sounds and really versatile.
