The pattern on the blade is coloured using some type of paint. It comes off easily. I will be using a metal blue paste to cold blue it back on. The wood on the scabbard is lovely. With a fine polish and some Danish oil it comes up beautiful. Blade was not sharp. Using a fine belt I managed to put a decent edge on. But polishing will take time. For the money it's a decent display piece. I may train with it but will put grip tape over the wood first to protect it. Postage is expensive but quick.
