About this product
Product Information
It's the year 2072. Responding to the fans' cries for more thrills, sports entertainment has evolved. The game of American football is now played with robots and exploding balls, and is now known as Tournament Cyberball.

Players must lead one of six teams against four rival coaches. Teams are composed of seven robots each, with agile humanoid robots as backs and rugged tank robots as linemen. Most of the rules of traditional American football apply, and teams must march the ball downfield to their opponents' end zones for scores. Teams can use either passing or running plays, while the defending team can tackle ball carriers or try to intercept passes.

The game's novelty is in the exploding ball. American football's ten-yards in four downs rule is gone. Instead players have to deal with an exploding ball. At the beginning of a drive the ball is cool, but with each passing play the ball gets hotter and hotter. Teams must advance the ball a certain number of yards to keep the ball cool; otherwise the ball will explode and destroy the robot in possession of it at the time. If a team fails to advance the ball far enough to keep it from exploding, control of the ball turns over to the other team.

Teams earn money from making great plays. This money can be used to buy enhanced players throughout the game, or to buy cheap replacements for destroyed robots.
