This is good old fashion fun. Some classic film songs like "I talk to the Trees","They call the wind Mariah" and "Wandrin' Star". The later being a hit for Lee Marvin at the time of the film's release. The chance to see and hear Clint Eastwood sing makes a real bonus. There is some great male choral singing as well. I would have loved to have seen the Broadway play. Presented in Widescreen. The film may not have been a great success at the Box-office at the time but for lovers of screen musicals this Lerner and Lowe classic is a valuable addition to any film buffs collection. Also sad to see Jean Seberg before the tragic ending of her life. She looks as feisty here as she seems to have been in her real life. The actors all look like they are enjoying themselves. "Rollicking" is a word that fits comfortably with this 1969 grandly presented production. The sweeping mountain scenery and high production values help to place this as my second favourite film next to another greatly underrated film in its time "Ryans Daughter". Worth every cent paid for it. I'd buy it on Blu ray if it ever became available in that format.Read full review
