A film that marks Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's first leading role in a family-friendly comedy, THE GAME PLAN finds the former pro wrestler starring as Joe Kingman, a popular NFL quarterback happily entrenched in a carefree single lifestyle. Kingman's world is turned upside-down, however, when a young girl named Peyton Kelly (Madison Pettis) appears from out of the blue, claiming to be his daughter from a brief former marriage. Reluctantly, Kingman must learn how to shake his self-absorption and become a father, leading to hijinks that involve the inevitable clash of macho-man and little-girl cultures.Directed by Andy Fickman (SHE'S THE MAN), this likable Disney movie is hoisted up by the muscular Johnson, who finally gets a chance to showcase his winking charm and impressive comic timing at length. Although Johnson is no stranger to portraying football players (see 2006's GRIDIRON GANG), THE GAME PLAN is far lighter fare than his previous films, opening up at another door in his intriguing WWE-to-Hollywood career. The comedy also features an excellent supporting cast, most notably, the precocious Pettis, along with Morris Chestnut, who plays Kingman's thoughtful teammate Travis Sanders, and Kyra Sedgwick, on leave from her hard-hitting role in THE CLOSER TV show as Kingman's workaholic agent. Nodding to Disney live-action comedies of yore while conveying a 21st-century sheen, THE GAME PLAN hits all of its intended goals, making it one of 2007's most enjoyable family movies.

Likeable family movie featuring "The Rock"
Cute family movie. The Rock is very likeable. Audio & Video are superior on this Blu-ray DVD. You will not be disappointed. Extras are so-so with one exception "Chalk Talk" - this feature is fantastic. Instead of commentary that is stuck to the speed of the film, they actually pause scence when need and write on the screen with virtual chalk to point out what they are talking about. Very cool feature & one that I have never seen used before. Extras include: -”Drafting the Plan” -”The Rock Learns to Play QB” -“Peyton’s Makeover Madness” - "Chalk Talk" -Deleted Scenes -Blooper Reel Is it worth getting the Blu-Ray version? You bet. So what if it's been done before?
How could a movie about pro football player in Boston who idolizes Elvis Presley and has a really great bulldog not be good? Well, you could toss in a terminally cute kid, stir in a lot of estrogen, add The Rock as the star, and let Disney bake the whole schmaltzy mess. In all fairness The Game Plan is like the movie of my youth (very young youth.) It's like an Elvis movie but thankfully The Rock only sings a little. And what of this guy? We all know he's no actor but neither was Arnold. It's hard to tell sometimes if he takes himself seriously but it's believing exactly the opposite that makes him entertaining. I would easily recommend this to people as a family movie and I know most guys would grimace and groan a lot even thinking about watching it but it's really not that bad and is ... The Rock makes a good quarterback and father!
This is a cute but predictable story of the Rock who finds out he has a daughter when she shows up saying her mother is gone away. The Rock and his new found daughter bond and develop a great relationship as the Rock leads his team to the Championship Game. A warm and cute story sure to entertain all ages. A story to make any dad proud!

Entertaining Movie - The Game Was Well Planned
This is a history of a football player who thought that had it all until he met his 8 year old daughter and then develops with her a relationship to the point where he realizes he could not live anymore without her. This movie is touchy, funny and has all elements of a typical Disney release, including a happy-ending. Recommended.
