    Ignores much recent research which may be controversial

    He claims that the Old Testament is not historical, because archaeological investigations have failed to confirm it. However there seems to be a school of thought that the accepted chronological order has problems, and then the Bible and "history" can come together (eg see David Rhol's books). He is on much firmer ground in the New Testament survey, but again ignores the controversial work of Barbara Theiring,, although the Essenes do get a mention. In short a useful summary, but the reader who wants a fuller understanding needs to read more widely, with discrimination.
