These books are very good and accessible references - especially for the beginner . However, for the serious student who wants the theoretical background, the works of Martin Pring are recommended before embarking on serious trading . For a quick reference within actual trading time cycles, it's good to have John Murphy's book close at hand as a memory aid

It’s not new. I lifted the jacket and the outer book was all scuffed up. Inner pages were clean at least, so I can keep the jacket to hide the numerous blemishes and read on.

I am reading Technical Analysis for Dummies and I use this book to get a detailed understanding of the specific indicators. I have read bits and pieces of the book but it has been a great help. I am a newbie and I highly recommend this book to other who are starting off trying to learn TA. Though the book is about 9 years old the indicators explanations are still valid today; I haven't read the section on programming with TradeStation but I think that portion might be a little out of date. However, you really should get a separate book for coding TA models.
This book is great.
