About this product

Product Information

Following the comprehensive design of its DOS-based progenitor, Impressions Games' Lords of the Realm III is an encompassing medieval monarchy simulation involving players in numerous and varied responsibilities of regency in the Middle Ages. Beginning as a minor noble in a factionalized land, the ultimate goal is to rise to a position of power and unite the country under the player's supreme rule.

Yet to claim supreme authority is to take on the many varied duties that come with the throne. In real-time gameplay, players must draft loyal knights to lead powerful armies, keep the commoners in their place and protect their well-being, curry the favor of the Church, and establish new villages and cities, all while defending their territories and conquering the lands and resources of their rivals.

Lords of the Realm III uses real-world maps based on the borders and geography of its historical setting. Players develop their realm by assigning vassals to parcels of land. The land can be used for defensive, productive, or religious structures, depending upon type of vassal placed in charge. Most battles can be controlled directly by the player or left for the computer to resolve.

Communication with the seller before my transaction was quick and efficient. The item came quickly and was packaged with care. It was in stellar shape, was reasonably priced and fair. I hope to do more business with the seller in the future!

I discovered upon testing this gamepad that several buttons were not functional, and while I was able to repair it, this item was in a significantly more used condition than described in the auction. After contacting the seller to explain the situation, they responded quickly and offered to make things right. While I did not take the offered credit, the quality customer service was appreciated. Also, the gamepad was very securely packed. A positive experience overall, with a major caveat.

For context to other sellers, this person is the nicest and most professional customer I've ever had the privilege of meeting on eBay.

Good communication, well-packed item, which arrived safe and sound. Unfortunately the cover of the magazine did not correspond to the original photo on ebay. An address tag was on the cover, which wasn't on the picture.

  • Lord of the Realms III

This game was really good. The battles were well planned out and the castles looked great. The only problem with this game is that you could fight in one battle and your whole country will be destroyed. To avoid doing that destroy all of the other people's armies and then attack. I would probably like that game a little more if it was a turn based game. I don't think its as good when its continous. Also, you can't raise troops, the computer does it. If they made it like the old one I would like it better, but overall, it was a great game.

  • Could have been better

I liked the original game, but this one does put a spin on it. Being a real time game, it can be confusing. If you dont support your lands, you'll get overtaken. Its not that bad, confusing at first, but once you get rolling, its like nothing can stop you, with a little strategy, you'll beat it in a week, think i'll sell my copy now :P

  • Not the Best Sierra Product

Great idea for a strategy game, however the main overview of the board really doesn't have much for the player to do. You can enter the battlefield if you choose where battle can be played, but not much strategy can be used to fight. Lords of the Realm 2 is a little simplier and a lot more fun to play. Give this one a miss and go back to Age of Empire 2.

  • What were they thinking?

LOTR3 really blew it when they moved away from the turn based format. LOTR2 was a perfect combination of turned based country management + real time battles. I miss buying drinks for my peasants, managing their happiness, work and troup allocations. LOTR3 would have done much better had they kept the same formula as LOTR2 with the improved graffics. I recommend "Medieval Total War" which has better graffics and gameplay and is much closer to the LOTR2 experience.

  • Lord of the Realm

This looked like a great game but we have not been able to get it to work on the computer.Apparently it requires more graphics or memory than we currently have.
