The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1 combines features of a digital camera and a digital camcorder in a single, small package. At only 4.5-inches by 2.0-inches by 1.1-inches, this camera is scarcely larger than a cell phone. The 2.5-inch LCD screen folds flat against the camera when it is not in use, and swivels up to 270 degrees to provide a generous and clear display in any lighting conditions. A stereo microphone enables you to capture clear sound in movie mode. Buttons controlling both picture and video modes are located behind the LCD and microphone on the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1. Small buttons on the side of the LCD enable you to play back video or display photos on the digital camcorder with it in a fully closed position. This 5.1 MP Sony digital camera takes crisp, clear photos and videos, saving videos in the easily accessible MPEG4 format. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1 includes a rechargeable lithium battery. The name says pretty much about it, its sony people. It's a lot better than the HD Flip. The HD Flip is light weight, most people don't even know the makers of it. It just doesnt have a rep like sony has for all these years. It fold, so its just a little bigger than a cell phone. Hooks into the computer with the usb and easy upload. Overall great product, depends on what condition you get it in. Be careful on how much you pay though. There are people out there that are out to stab you with high prices. I would recomend anywhere from $100 to $200 to get something in good condition. I dont think anything over $200 is something you want to get.The name says pretty much about it, its sony people. This is a nice camera. Purchased for my son to take to college. It's not made to be used for television field work and getting news scoops or taking award winning photo's during war time, but to grab quick and short video shots around campus and take shots of friends during football games, download into your computer and save for a lifetime? that's where it works just fine. the dock plugs via usb to the computer for download and charges at the same time. the flip screen won't last 50 years, but technology changes every 2 years anyway! get a good deal, take some pictures and enjoy life. my son loves it and we are very glad we got it for him. would do it again.This is a nice camera. The Sony DSC-M1 is a first generation camera for Sony that slides open. It has awesome features such as the 5.1 megapixels, ease of use of switching from photo to movie with a switch of a button, battery life, the most you can get is an average of 2 hours, depending on how much you open and close the M1. Another thing is the flash is so tiny, its only good for taking close shots up to 5ft, anything past 5ft, the picture is dark, grainy especially when the room is dim, even using the red eye function, will not guarantee a good picture. Overall its compact, handy and versatile. It is easy to operate. With very little knowledge of the camera you can make it work for you - then the adventure begins. It takes excellent quality pictures - both stills and video. It has features that allow for some very fun and creative images to be created. It has features that allow the user to enhance the detail and contrast of the photograph, especially for objects being placed on e-bay. It has features that allow for very detailed close-up pictures. It works, is durable, and reliable. Downloading files to your desktop is simple simon. I bought this one to replace two that I have that need to be repaired. Repair is difficult as they are old and the cost is high as a result. Buying this camera made the most sense. The other two I can use for parts and create one camera ... It is easy to operate.
