Relive past century, month by month.
Forgotten in some way since it was first published in 1987, this book is still very unique and for every history junkie, A MUST HAVE. It is composed of articles of most important events, as well as art, advertisements and propaganda posters that extremely well expose the mood of the period. First copy of it I received at the age of 7, and it became for me a way of travel through time. I am very surprised that it is not more common title in our society. Chronicle of the 20th Century (1987) - a wealth of data
Early in the 1990's we purchased the Chronicle of America (covered B.C.-1988), originally as a reference book on American history, for use by the family, whenever questions came up. We found this book so helpful over the years - hard to describe how often! The writing style is like newspaper stories - easy to read for all age groups, factual without "interpretations" of the authors, written in the present tense. I purchased the Chronicle of the 20th Century for the global view of this book. Style-wise it is the same. The information on World Wars I and II is very detailed. There are almost 1400 pages and yet this book only covers up to 1986, with annual almanacs published thereafter. My wife and I have been conducting genealogical research and family history on our ancestors. These ... Did you live through most of the 20th century?
If you did then you will probably enjoy reading through this little (giggle) book. While the book's size is necessary to cover the topic in a nice way, it requires a large space to use it. I am not in the educational field. It seems like an interesting coffee table book. I bought one of these as a graduation present for my son. He enjoys history and reads about history for entertainment. This book fits that purpose.If you did then you will probably enjoy reading through this little (giggle) book.
