Springsteens 1953 adventure drama Sea of Lost Ships (1953) The son of a deceased Coast Guard hero is raised by a Coast Guard NCO, who also has a son the same age. When they get older both are accepted into the Coast Guard Academy, but the hero's son winds up being thrown out, bringing disgrace to his adopted family. Abandon Ship! (1957) Ship's officer finds himself in command of a lifeboat full of survivors of a sunken luxury liner. Damn the Defiant! (1962) On the H.M.S. Defiant, during the French Revolutionary War, fair Captain Crawford is locked in a battle of wills against his cruel second-in-command Lieutenant Scott-Padget, whose heavy-handed command style pushes the crew to mutiny.
