This item arrived safely and was packaged well in layers of tissue paper and plastic . The ornament box is pristine, and the item is new. I do not think the box has been opened. the ornament is housed in the original packaging of plastic bag and clamshell. There are batteries present, but they appear as the originals and are spotted as if aged. I used my own fresh batteries on the ornament, and it works as designed. I love the lighting of this particular ornament.
