I decided to buy this book because it gave me more than the basic knowledge I needed about collectible shoes. It also gave many illustrations in color and is in some type of chronological order which definitely helps the collector. It also covered various makers and gave excellent examples of their work. I think this is a good book for the beginning collector and anyone who needs information. The only drawback I can see is that it is a 2001 book and there does not seem to be an update. Good book for information and the price was very reasonable.
I was hoping for a guide which would show me the difference between old glass shoes and newer ones. There are many many newer ones and few old ones on the market. Unfortunately this author did not distinguish between these two groups. It remained for me to look at the new ones that were illustrated and then search for different ones to purchase. There is a need for an improved buying guide in this field, but this book is better than nothing. The illustrations are quite good. And I was able to use the book to identify an English-made shoe as early twentieth century before I bought it.
I am very happy with this book, it is all and more of what I thought it would be. It has great colorful pictures with great descriptions. The price was great as well! I am very pleased with this book.
Fabulous for researching glass shoes of all kinds.
