Product Information

Before All Creatures Great and Small, James Herriot attended Glasgow Veterinary College in the 1930s. This drama follows his early days as a student. James suffers the pranks of his associates, makes new friends, and discovers that the lodging he had paid for doesnt exist. Thrust immediately into hard times, his newfound friends find him a room with them at the house of the eccentric Aunt Elspeth. James is confident and inspired but he soon discovers that a good deal more than confidence and inspiration are needed to assess the physical health of animals and in some cases the emotional health of his acquaintance. As he attempts to mend sick horses, ailing sheep and a kennel of pure bred dogs he soon discovers that life and medicine is much more complicated than he first thought; and that passion no matter how well-intentioned-can be a very deceptive guide.

    Great series

    After having watched the TV series "All Creatures Great and Small" and reading various books by James Herriot it was enlightening to see a series about the earlier life of James Herriot. Found it to be very enjoyable.

    A very enjoyable DVD that was purchased as used and worked well.

    I bought this product because I have all the series of All Creatures Great and Small. I had seen it advertised in a catalogue, before that didn't know it existed, so looked it up on ebay and found it for a very good price. Even though it was a different actor playing the part of young James Harriot, it was still very enjoyable. It could have had more in the story line leading up to the other stories of All Creatures Great and Small. It was a used DVD but played well, no problems. I have bought a lot of DVDs through ebay, some new some used, and never had any problems.
