Delivers on the hype
I love my D700, but this is a much better camera. Low light performance is outstanding. Skin tones are beautiful. The focus system is amazing. The extra resolution allows me to use a 50mm/1.4 prime for many situations where I would have previously used a heavy zoom (AFS 28-70/2.8). The compact/lighter body is great, although not all controls are where Nikon shooters are used to. The camera has so many features, and a ridiculously long manual that I only became aware of some features reading online. I haven't tried the video yet, but it's nice to know it's there for when I haven't packed the "proper" video camera. My only gripe is the shutter - it's got a slower max speed and flash sync than other "serious" Nikon bodies, and the sound is more likely to disturb in sensitive settings. Having ...
