Product quality and shipping process was excellent. Prompt communication. Future buyers should note that this filter will work only with the magnetic ring which is not part of the package. This is mentioned in the description. However, may get missed to understand the limitation. Thanks to the seller's team to facilitate easy return process.

  • A solid continuation of a long held tradition for the 24mm prime

I have always liked the 24mm prime, having had one since the early days of the 70s and Nikon F series. Interestingly the lens has not changed much optically since then, and a side by side comparison with this one and my dear old NC Ai-S from 1973 confirms little difference. I purchased mine to add auto focus convenience when I need it, not for anything better optically. The auto focus is consistent, within the limits of a shaft drive system, but it is also easy to manually focus. I regrease my plastic primes to remove the dry rattly feel, and to say it transforms them for the better is an understatement! I like the 24mm length as a normal prime on DX, and its rich traditional renditions, but it must be viewed in context. The reality is that these lenses, while being superbly sharp in the ...

  • Sharp. Superb contrast. VERY light. Cheap. Needs metal hood.

This lens is superb compared to the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 on my Nikon D90. Superb contrast, sharp and colours come out better and most importantly, no distortion. A hood is needed to prevent flaring. Metal hoods come cheap on eBay. On ebay it goes for a fraction of the well regarded Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 but without the zoom. Also, it was so light to carry for a whole day in the city.

  • Excellent for film, best for portraits and architecture photos

Bought to use on Nikon F5 and D700. Sharp and focusing quick. Does tend to flare when pointed into bright points of light, buy a HN-1 hood to reduce this. Excellent at f/2.8, bokeh very creamy and can make for good portraits. Worth looking for this lens' profile on pixel-peeper.com to see what I mean. Apparently the front can be fragile if you knock it - you could send the front section off-centre and end up with blurred corners on you photos. Otherwise a very nice little lens. Great focal length, especially on film and FX digital. Wide, but not too extreme. Will be keeping this lens for many years to come!
