Stealers Wheel Lemon Records CD is a poor reproduction
Sadly, many of the songs on this CD set sound rather flat and in the case of the one CD, intolerably slow. These were apparently recorded from a vinyl record versus going back to the master tapes, as a result the stereo separation and dynamic range are extremely limited as in poor. The one disk, Ferguslie Park, is awful to listen to as it was recorded at a slow speed and not caught by the engineer which is pretty unforgivable. My vinyl albums from the 1970s sound worlds better than any of these CD disks. Do yourself a favor and buy the SACD or the 180 gram vinyl reproductions which are done from the original tapes. That or just buy a 1970s era original vinyl pressing to hear these properly.
