About this product

Product Information

The Star Wars CommTech Reader by Hasbro is designed to look like Qui-Gon Jinn's Jedi comlink, and it brings the voices of your favorite characters right into your home. Certain Episode I action figures come bundled with CommTech chips, which hold soundbites recorded in those characters' voices. By scanning the chips, the device gives those characters new life and brings an additional dimension of creativity to any Star Wars games. The reader comes equipped with four save buttons, which allows you to save chip messages for future playback, as well as a holding clip that easily clips on to a belt.

Excellent! Just like new even though 24 years old!

It was delivered in Excellent condition and worked as soon as I put the 9 volts battery in it! It's old technology, but it's still very cool And what I mean about that is this: all voices of characters are essentially the same Stephen Hawkings-sounding computerized voice for each character. But that's the way it was back in 1999.

  • 1998 Star Wars Flashback

A blast from the past. Limited to just the episode 1 figures and the 10 potf ones, but a lot of fun. Yes the voices are hit or miss, and the device is limited to saving 4 voices at a time, but I believe the play value exceeds the cost that most have sold for. You can keep figures mint in the package or use loose ones with the chip which doubles as a nice stand for the figure.Word of warning, you may start buying more commtech chip figures!

  • Made my husbands day

This was an amazing throwback gift for my husband. He almost cried… he is collecting the Star Wars toys and chips and thought he would never see a commtech reader again… until I got him this one. Thank you so much! You made his day.
