This brand new The Thing Blu-ray/ DVD is great for any movie or horror collector! It is new, has been opened, and is in excellent, never used condition! (The plastic wrap was very torn up, so I opened it to make sure it wasn't a reseal. It also isn't the sliocover version with a digital download). A So-So Prequel to the 1982 Film
The Thing (2011) is a prequel to John Carpenter’s film starring Kurt Russell of the same title. A geological expedition in the Antarctic discovers a spacecraft and inhabitant in the ice, bring the creature to the research station, where it escapes and begins killing and assimilating the expedition crew. The film is reminiscent of the Alien movies where Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) battles the Alien. Not a bad movie, but at the same time not a very good movie. If you’ve seen the Carpenter / Russell film there is little here you haven’t already seen. And of course the 1951 film is still a classic.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

THE PREQUEL TO THE 1982 CLASSIC!
It's true that these two movies (2011 & 1982) are kind of alike. However, that being said, there is just enough of a difference between the two to make it interesting. In addition, it does answer the question of "what happened to the Norwegian research facility" that Kurt Russell & Co. find after the appearance of the dog at the beginning of the 1982 movie.
