    "step up".

    Although a great value for its purchase cost, I would like to see an upgrade, for a nominal increase in pricing. EX; Resolution, Clarity, slightly wider nm scale, adjustable positioning to minimize reading error, Instructional picture showing internal ray tracing.

    not bad for the price

    For the price, this is a good product. The slit is a little too wide, resulting in spectral lines that are poorly defined, but that problem can be fixed without too much effort: just make the slit narrower by attaching some thin, opaque material (maybe aluminum foil) to either side of the slit. The narrower the slit, the more sharply defined the spectral lines will be. I've attached a photo (taken with my cell phone looking through this spectroscope) of the spectral emission lines from a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL).

    Every STEM classroom should be furnished with several!
