quieter than other shredders
very quiet, shredder is a bit heavy but does a super job with paper. I found that it does NOT like cd's even though that is an option to shred featured on the machine. The cd got half way through and the red "overload" button lit up. I had to reverse the direction of the shredder to get the cd out. It was half shredded. So, best not to shred cd's. otherwise, a wonderful product and was reasonably priced.
