      Perfect in certain applications.

      Kadee MKD - 4s are perfect in certain applications on older cars. It seems to me to be a better idea to use the #4s instead of having to modify the coupler pocket and cars underframe. Certain older cars were designed to use the #4s. The #4s don't look as good as one of the new scale head couplers but they do mate together and work well. Also, a certain amount of "slack action" is inherent in the design and method of mounting the coupler. This is prototypically correct. Real freight cars have 1 foot of slack action in each car. If a 30 car train is stopped with all the cars bunched up, (slack in) the front of the train will move 30 feet before the rear of the train starts to move (slack out).
