Nice mic, looks awesome!
Have always been a rk56 guy but the new ones aren't like the ones of yesteryear. The quality really sux. Now the Astatic is a great mic, I've used them in the past but it's been decades. Was looking for a replacement and ran across the Stars and stripes and thought what the hell, let's give we a go. Has a nice heft to it without it being heavy, feels good in the hand and talks awesome! So I think I've found my new all time mic. Seems to look and work fine!!!
I purchased this mic to use with my Galaxy 77 and I get told it sounds good. I was given one to use until I got mine after a friend had my radio tuned and said to use a Road Pro or one of these for best results. He happened to have both to choose from. Mic works great but couldn’t bring myself to give 5 stars because it is made of plastic instead of metal (like the one I borrowed was) and it was not made in the States as his was. His was an older unit so I’m sure that explains it but I wish these companies could find a way to bring themselves to bring back manufacturing to us. Best mic out there
I am told it's not as loud as my older rk56 but very close and is crisper audio from the 636. The flag design is nice. Fits well in the hand, only thing I don't care for is the mic cord is way to long, although I do like the stainless.
