A Classic Above And Beyond :-)
I enjoy watching ROME immensely. It's a two-season dramatic series that explores the uprising of ancient Rome and the appalling tactics incited by enemies within the Senate. Although some of the accounts are purely frictional, I compliment the acting performances, writing, and directorial feats that have made this series phenomenal premiered on HBO in 2005. The producers, along with the help of their splendid set designers, cleverly authentically the depraving and unspeakable existence of ancient Rome and the deplorable tyranny of the government ruled by Augustus Caesar. The entire cast members are nothing short but professional in their co-starring roles, especially actors Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson as Lucius and Pullo. As ex-soldiers of the 13th, they fight but remain loyal to their friendship despite personal fallouts and troubling transgressions. Polly Walker (Atia) and James Purefoy (Mark Anthony) are two of the most wretched characters of the series, known for their monstrous strategies and jealousies against their enemies to gain favors for themselves like spoiled inciters. It's a shame the HBO hit ran for two seasons probably due to high production costs. With the Sopranos and the Wire, ROME will always hail as a period classic that scrutinizes the degradation of a wicked capital of old. Highly recommend :-)Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great mini series. Watch out for naked scenes.
My husband and I both enjoy it. It's historical fiction and from what I know, it seems historically accurate. I was a bit shocked by the graphic sex scenes. I had been planning on watching it with my teen son for educational purposes then, oops there's a couple of naked bodies.
