This is not recommended if you plan to adapt another brand of lithium battery to the flashlight. This model works as low as six volts, and therefore will not protect the cells from being over discharged. That being said, you can actually run this device off of four 1.5v batteries in series. When the voltage drops to five volts, the light beam gets visually dimmer. From 6 to 20 volts, no extra brightness occurs. I assume there is an internal buck converter that drops the voltage of the normal 20v lithium battery pack.

Great little flashlight from Hart
If you already have any of the HART 20V line, then your battery works with this. It is an all-plastic flashlight, but since I already have 10 batteries for the HART system, this is great to have and puts out a lot of lumen for a little light.
