  • Timing light for MSD

I constantly had issues timing my race car with an MSD 6AL-2 timing box. I tried 3 different brands even SnapOn and none would be consistent. I read on MSD’s website that this timing light works great with MSD ignitions. For this reason I bought this timing light and it works perfectly. My timing is locked at 36 degrees. This shows 36 degrees at idle and 36 degrees at 7000rpm. I couldn’t be happier. If you are trying to time a vehicle with an MSD ignition box this is the timing light for you.

This is a good, solid Craftsman timing light. I had browsed over many cheaper, modern digital timing lights and passed them in favor of this device. I have not used it yet on my motorcycles, but I am trusting that it will work. It was received in lightly used condition, and I bought a new plastic carrying/storage case for it separately.

  • Awesome timing light, works great.

Got to hook it up and try it out last weekend and it was perfect. Plenty bright enough to see outside in the driveway. Working on an 87 Chevy, 350 TBI, V20 Suburban where the battery is right behind the passenger headlights, the #1 spark plug wire is at the front of the engine just above the steering column and the timing marker is under the water pump on the driver side. The power and pick up cords were plenty long enough to allow for safe routing away from fan/shroud and still place the light where needed to view timing marks.

  • If you run an MSD...

These things were designed eons ago and they got it right. Sturdy construction, and most importantly they will allow accurate timing with MSD ignition boxes that modern timing lights won't work with. A fraction of the cost of many timing lights and with old school build quality. Highly recommended for any car with a distributor.

  • Used USA tools is the way to go.

I bought inovas best timing light didn’t light, sent back got a new one same thing, decided to get old school USA craftsman timing light, works flawless super bright , just goes to show you where we’re headed, can’t even buy the best now and expect to work. I’m done buying overseas junk. If it ain’t USA made I won’t buy.

  • oldie but goodie

I chose this timing light due to good reviews in forums. The new modern timing lights have bad reviews due to timing light accuracy, too many things to fail, too complex, poor quality, & being over-priced according to classic car forums. Sometimes it's best to go with proven, simple, reliable, affordable, old-school tools I've found. thanks!.
