About this product
Product Information
Originally released in the 1980s, the Nikon N8008s 35mm SLR film camera is the F-801s upgrade to its F-801 predecessor. It has a durable body that is constructed with a metal frame covered with plastic and rubber. Its traditional controls allow you to switch between autofocus and manual focus. It uses the Nikon Bayonet lens mount and is compatible with most AI lenses. These include lenses like the Nikon Nikkor AF-D 35mm f/2.8 lens and AF lenses as well. The N8008s was an update to the N8008. It offers spot metering and great autofocus performance and is also an incredibly reliable camera. It uses four AA alkaline batteries, and without a lens, it weighs 695 grams, or about 1.5 pounds. The shutter mechanism uses metal blinds and an electronic release. It has a shutter speed ranging from 30 seconds for long exposure shots to 1/8000th of a second. The shutter's winding and cocking occur automatically with a motor drive. You can set the film speed between 6 and 6400 ISO, so you have a huge range of possible settings to play with. This camera was designed for the average consumer, but the N8008s has many functions more often seen in professional cameras. You can check the depth of field with the Depth of Field preview button and use the Multiple Exposures option for up to nine shots in one frame. It also has a self-timer and several programmable manual options. Its settings include options for automatic exposure, aperture priority shooting, shutter priority shooting, and manual exposure control. The Type B BrightView screen is interchangeable with Type E screens. The Nikon N8008 autofocus upgrade is also compatible with the Multi-Control Back MF-21. The MF-21 expands the abilities of the camera even further for options like freeze-focus, data imprinting, and automatic exposure bracketing. The flash synchronization occurs at 1/250th of a second. The dedicated flash unit is the Nikon Speedlight SB-24. The camera also uses an evaluative 2D matrix and 75% center-weighted average color metering modes. An electronic metering readout is visible through the viewfinder. For autofocus, it uses a TTL phase detection system called the Nikon Advanced AM200 module. This gives it an AF detection range from EV -1 to EV 19 when the camera is set to ISO 100. By using a button on the front of the LCD display, exposure compensation is possible within plus or minus 5 EV range in 1/3 EV steps.Film cameras tend to need faster lenses than digital SLRs. Using a fast normal AF lens is one way to get amazing photos out of the N8008 s-upgrade. It uses an additive frame counter that resets automatically. Film loading occurs when the shutter release button is pressed. You can also rewind the film by pressing a few buttons, and the rewinding stops automatically when the film is completely rewound. The LCD panel offers information on details like the mode, DX mark, and self-timer settings. It can be illuminated by pressing a button on the top plate's backside.
