    Nice Sony receiver......nice price too!

I was looking to replace a 20 or more year old Technics receiver. I wanted a basic 2-channel one, & was comparing a Yamaha receiver with this Sony model, both were about the same price. What swung things in favor of the Sony was the phono input, which the Yamaha did not have. That was very important to me, as I will be using it for playing vinyl, CD's, & even tapes at times. The Bluetooth feature doesn't mean much to me, though maybe that'll change in the future....Anyway, very pleased with this receiver. It's easy to set up,& use. The remote is real nice, seems to have every function you could hope for. I think the only negative is the two big dials on the front of the receiver, one for volume, & one for input selecting, they look kind of awkward, & you're bound to use the remote instead ...

    Fine for the money

I am used to high quality integrated amps from the 70's. This amp has acceptable sound, but it does not match them. But, at this price range, this would be expected. I can't see how it has 100 watts per channel. My old 70's amp had 90 watts and it was a lot more powerful. It is strong, but not 100 watts strong IMO. The volume control has a ton of friction in it. It's just silly how much force it takes to twist it. The electronic controls are something of a pain to use. The unit needs manual controls for tone and balance.......but that would cost more probably. The display is smallish and hard to see. TIP: The unit requires electronic adjustment for 6 ohm or 8 ohm (and up) speakers. I have 6 ohm speakers and the sound sure improved when I selected that. Mine did not have English in ...

Since I am used to the older stereo equipment, the DH190 takes some getting used to. I wish the speaker select would stay on the last-used setting after turning the receiver back on. A connection for an external antenna would be a big help as i live in a poor reception area. The volume knob feels as though it has extra drag that is not needed. That said, I am pleased overall with it. I bought it as a temporary replacement for my Marantz (being repaired) and it does what I need it to do.

  • Good Value

Very good sound quality and easy to connect audio video devices. Dedicated Phono input is a nice feature for those seeking Phono input. An input and output for recording device is available besides audio input for two other audio or video devices. Only issue is FM tuning. It lacks direct manual tuning ability; only auto tuning is available. I also notice a lag time before FM station will start playing. There was a recent price drop which makes it an excellent mid-level tuner choice compared to competitive makes.

Pretty simple, basic receiver. No subwoofer output, no way to loop in EQ for all output selections (have to choose one, i.e. phono, cd, etc). Other than that, good sound and options in system. Great that it does bluetooth.
