    A Journey into the History of African American Spirituals

    Probably the earliest recordings of African American spirituals as well s the great Fisk University quartet singers. The liner notes are excellent with nearly book length academic reflections on the recordings and their history. Required listening for serious students of African American spirituals and African American folk music.
