Great choice with a few quirks

I've been using this trackball for about a week. It's easy to connect, the configuration software allows deep customization, even though the translation might be lacking. There are three main buttons, and the right button acts as left by default even without messing with the OS mouse settings. There are also two additional buttons to the right of the main one, which act as 'back' and 'forward' by default, and the scroll wheel is clickable and tiltable. There's also a DPI switch. Every mouse button can be bound in the configuration software, which also allows creating 'gestures' if the 'gesture' action is bound. Gestures are combinations of up, down, left and right movements of the cursor which can call preset or custom actions. In everyday office usage, it's excellent. I'm even using it to play games, and that's where the shortcomings are clear: the small movement accuracy is lacking - you can't smoothly move the cursor if it's a couple pixels, even with the low DPI setting it results in a jerky motion. Overall, I can confidently recommend this trackball.

ELECOM TRACKBALL MOUSE MADE WELL BUT NOT FOR ME

I've used Logitech trackball mice for many years. The Elecom track ball mouse was awkward to use from the start. The ergonomics simply did not work with my hand. I've tried to make use of it several times over 1 1/2 years, but it is still awkward. The ball was and is too stiff which makes it difficult to land accurately on a button or check box. Mice in general must fit and be useful in one's hand. Every person is different. The only way to find out if a particular mouse will work for you is to try it for a sufficient length of time. The mouse is made well, and probably works for most people. The stiff ball action was all over the internet with many workarounds. Putting miles on the ball by rolling it around while watching TV did not make a difference. Lubricant did not work either. Two minutes of trial in a retail store will probably not determine if it will work for you. Give it a try, write a review when you know for certain.

  • Disposable Wire-less Mouse for Sale

Advantage: Left-handed mice are few and far between. Having said that, most left-handed people know from an early age that adjusting to using our right-hand for many things is not a real big challenge. I have been using a right-handed mouse (of all types) for 25 years. I NEVER felt to them a challenge to learn/use. Therefore, I find it very difficult to believe that I would encounter a left-handed person to feel the "need" for a left-handed mouse. So why did I purchase this mouse? Simply because, being able to use "both" hands at any given time, allows for the "other" hand to recuperate . . . hence eluding carpal tunnel syndrome, a threat I found fast approaching. I use a Logitech M-570, which would be a very strong contender to this mouse. I find that the Logitech is a much better choice if you are right-handed. This mouse has two disqualify issues. 1. It appears to tracking ball is far less superior than ANY trackball I have ever used. I think it may have something to do with the dark color (very dark grey), or the lack of a "pattern" in the trackball, which may assist the laser with regards to sensitivity/accuracy. I suspect this is the case, simply because I have noticed all other trackballs have a pattern (much like "goose-bumps") within the trackball (NOT on the surface of the trackball). I DO NOT recommend the purchase of this wireless tracking mouse MAINLY, because the manufacturer provided NO SUPPORT for it. There is software to be had, and you can download it, and the "owners manual may also be downloaded in English, but it a challenge to come by, most all other users agree to this. While some may consider this "support", and I am willing to agree somewhat - where the support fails on a grand scale, is: you will never be able to communicate with the company, in ANY form. Further, (2) DO NOT expect a WARRANTY. NO Comunica - NO Warranty - NO PARTS - Good Luck

  • Lefties Rule the World!

For an "off brand" the Elecom M-XT4DRBK mouse is surprisingly well built and designed. From the photos it looked like there was also a pinky button but there is only index, middle, and ring finger buttons. The mouse is comfortable and has a really good feel to it and the buttons have a solid feel to them as well. The only drawback is one typical of track balls in that fine control over the cursor is a little more difficult but over all I would highly recommend this product.

  • IF you're left-handed - it is a must

Sadly, Logitech withdrawn their trackball from the market, so this one have no competitors now. Apart from the fact that it may have an impact on the price (which, by the way, is really reasonable), no problems. I have tested it on W7 and W10 machines, and in both cases runs well, especially if you will tailor the speed/sensitivity to your needs (you have two buttons to do that: one on top, one on the bottom, being actually hi-low-off switch. Perfect for AutoCAD. One thing to improve: works best with the manufacturer's driver/config software, whic is not very obvious where to download, as the manual comes in Japanese (but: uncle Google does the job in finding English version). Recommended.

  • all very well reviewing a new purchase. 6-12 months down the track might very well tell a different story

not for every body. took a while to get used to it. I have a shaky thumb & with a very free moving trackball makes placing the cursor VERY difficult at times. Could not setup trackball using directions on accompanying brochure. Found another elecom program apparently updated, which worked perfectly .Exceptional postage -9 days ex japan to delivery australia

  • Great value, goot to work with

The only thing I'm not completely happy about is the micro switches in the mouse buttons, which are just a little bit too soft, so sometimes you click before you even know it. Apart from that, great device!

  • Great trackball! The only one in it's category specialized for left-handed people.

Great trackball! The only one in it's category specialized for left-handed people. All pros! The only con is the fact that it doesn't have bluetooth & requires it's dongle to connect even to bluetooth enabled devices like a laptop. Not a big deal all in all.

  • Good left hand computer mouse

It is for my wife who prefers to use a left handed mouse for her computer work, a drawback is that it is not what would be considered an heavy office use mouse, it's more for light home use, wears out fast under heavy use.

  • FINALLY! An ergonomic trackball for a left-handed or ambidextrous person!

Being ambidextrous and a fan of trackball mice, I have spent years trying to find a truly left-handed version of an ergonomic trackball like the Logitech M570 I’ve been using. Logitech’s Trackman Marble Trackball, while designed to be used by either hand, but proved to be a major disappointment when I tried it. It was too limited. Certainly not something I could use in a gaming environment. That’s why I was very excited when I finally discovered recently that Elecom had a solution. Since I wanted complete consistency and versatility, I purchased both the left-handed and right-handed versions, so I had the option of using whichever side worked best for a given situation. I was very pleased with the results of that approach. Pleased enough that I decided to get another pair so I could use one pair at home and the other pair at work. The left-handed version is exactly a mirror of the right-handed one … so it was not necessary to go into Windows and change the mouse configuration to determine which mouse button is primary and which is secondary. The mouse hardware itself has the appropriate buttons defined. Since both are wireless, I had initially been worried that the presence of two devices … especially from the same company … might cause a conflict. But, after several weeks, I haven’t had any occasion where the signal from one interfered with the other. I can seamlessly switch between the two devices and, unless I tried to move the cursor with both mice simultaneously, the cursor movement would immediately reflect whichever mouse I was using. Versatile. Comfortable to use. Well-made. And, a comparable price to other wireless trackballs. Highly recommended.
