    IT MAY NOW BE AN OLDIE BY NOW ...

    Actually saw Mark perform during his first solo venture with 'Golden Heart' before he started doing music for films, and that's getting on for 25 years ago! I personally think he's both one of the most talented musicians and composers this country has ever produced, but not always over popular all the time because he comes over a bit dour. The best and most commercial track on this score is the haunting 'Going Home', covered also by Hank Marvin. The two obviously respect each other as guitarists because Mark guested on Hank's album by performing 'Wonderful Land'. Nuff said!

    Wonderful

    Wonderful and evocative music from Mark Knopfler who fashioned this soundtrack for this early 80s film. Celtic-influenced for sure and some are short but they all knit together to create a memorable OST.

    Classic music from a classic film.

    Local Hero is still a classic: one of the best Scottish films of all time in my opinion, but the soundtrack is the icing on this particular cake. Wonderful evocative music by Mark Knopfler Nothing bad to say about it at all.
