Brilliant simple easy to use tool
So simple to use. Brilliant tool. Thought it would require a lot of pressure but it cuts through n gauge rails like a knife through butter requiring very little filing afterwards. The vertical cutter means the track can be cut on the baseboard/cork underlay etc without trying to hold the rails in place whilst attempting to cleanly and at right angles with a razor saw.

Not as strong as I would have hoped for an expensive tool
I purchased this tool to cut Peco Streamline code 100 and code 60 (conductor rail) nickel silver track. Although it just managed to cut sufficient rails for my compact layout, the cutter rapidly developed grooves in the jaws. As it is specifically sold for this job, I expected better quality and this falls short of the standard which I have normally experienced with American made tools.

Don't do without
Have managed for years removing the piece of track and using electrical wire side cutters and cleaning up the cut with a file. Had to try them as soon as they arrived, what can I say! So, so easy to use, no real effort required, absolutely straight cut with very burr. If I was just starting again this would be my first purchase, years wasted filing burrs off track

The other Xuron cutters i had were slightly longer nosed and easier to get more leverage. After saying that, these are still good and maybe the shorter blades won't break as easy as the old ones i had. Time will tell. Still work well though

Excellent tool
Wonderful tool for cutting n gauge track, once I had tested it a few times to get the angle of cut vertical it has produced clean cuts requiring minimal filing to remove the burrs. Much easier than using a hacksaw!
