these might have to be the best at this price range

I've had a few of these on different machines now and they're very good value for money. Quite cheap, and write accurately to a pretty large range of DVD's be they RW+ or RW-. So far almost all issues with burning DVD's I've had have been related to software on an occasion (especially the default windows burner) and one brand of cheap DVD's. So excellent choice for a decent price. Not too slow either.

  • Top critical review

Not a really good product as expected from such reputed brand

The drive for it's price is satisfactorily alright for normal operations but when it comes to reading compressed files such as MP3s the spindle motor noise is too high and if the mounting screws are not tight enough there is massive vibration as well. Actually I was already aware about this fact with ASUS internal optical drives but still bought it because I thought that they might have fixed the problem. So in nutshell I am not really impressed by the product.

  • Too easy

The hardest thing about this is setting it up and putting it into a PC but after that it's all good. Cheap and great DVD player that does its job. Plain and simple.

  • It works as intended

Asus is generally a brand I trust so far I have not been disappointed good quality nice price and runs smooth. It's easy to install although we did need to go buy extra sata cables for it but seeing as it arrived super early they were easy enough to go and buy.

  • I'm Happy

Love the burner and the software only wish the software upgrade was free as it is a brand new product. The upgrade pop ups a bit annoying. The Asus green software with the burner I uninstalled Don't see the need for such a nasty piece of software I didn't like the way it attacked my Lite-on burner even though I was using media player at the time and not power2go. I've also stopped the power2go from starting up with my startup items as its just not necessary untill it is being used.
