Why you need this type of thermostat for solar.
Robertshaw is a good brand that has been on the market for years and is trusted by tradies. A normal water heater will stop heating at the set temperature and, if a fault occurs and the element continues to heat, a secondary part of the thermostat will stop the power. If this occurs, it needs to be manually reset. This particular thermostat is designed especially for solar water heaters - that secondary protection is set to a higher temperature so that the solar heater can cope with being heated by the sun to near boiling as occurs in summer in some regions.Robertshaw is a good brand that has been on the market for years and is trusted by tradies. In 10 years three have failed so cold showers each time to a replacement is found. .I now have spares and can self fit. The manufacturer is NOT. interested No other brands found
