About this product

Product Information

Nicky Epstein's blockbuster Edge titles have sold more than 125,000 copies; now Nicky's giving devoted readers her most important and wide-ranging collection of patterns yet: a worldwide tour of knitting traditions and techniques, including colourwork, cables, lace, intarsia and more. She explains the origins and traditional uses of each one and then goes on to reinvigorate and recombine all these beloved styles in her inimitable way. The result: over 40 all-new, innovative designs collected in an attractively designed book with a handy ribbon marker. There's a Celtic Pullover with braided twisted rib strips; a Snowflake Tunic from the Far North; a Felted Tyrolean Capelet with applique, cord and balls; a Spanish Rose Pullover with lace accents; a colorful Peruvian skirt; and an oversized, zipped Navajo Blanket Jacket. Colourful maps and historical photographs make this collection a visual treat, as well as an invaluable tool for knitters seeking new inspiration.

Well packed and arrived in a timely fashion. Vendor was very helpful dealing with an issue of my own making and helped resolve the problem quickly and without fuss. Thank you.

Bought 2 booklets for total £8.50. Ended absurdly expensive with £10 in incorrect expenses. Asked of fast delivery, took 16 work days. Requested combined shipping, no response. Hence £7.30 in double shipping despite one sent. Paid £0.95 VAT on purchase. Forced to redeem package for extra £6.50 in penalty VAT fees, due to seller neglected electronically provide IOSS when shipping. Refuses to compensate. No responsibility, blames lack of knowledge in trade on buyer and Brexit. Not recommended.

The Post Office did not create an electronic customs document correctly, which resulted in the buyer getting charged import tax by Swedish customs. The buyer was unreasonable - they ordered the books just before Christmas & paid the economy shipping charge (a 21 day delivery window) and then expected a discount, even though we had sent the parcel Tracked (3 day delivery) at our own expense. Although we offered a return & full refund, they declined, kept the books and wanted full compensation

  • Compelling artwork about knitting.

Amazing historical book. Plenty of examples of knitting history around the world. With some self-designed patterns by the author, is a compelling artwork.

  • Obviously the result of a great love of the subject.

Interesting, unexpected and exciting patterns. Not at all the usual fare. A real pleasure to read.

  • Great book

Very intricate knitting patterns, lovely designs , you would need to be intermediate.

  • Lots of innovative but achievable designs for all abilities. Great quality.

Really beautiful book with LOTS of patterns for all abilities. The designs are different from the usual knitting patterns you will find, both in range and style. There is everything from gloves to hats to wraps to complex coats and jumpers. There is an interesting history background to each 'region' - if you can bear to tear yourself away from the glorious photos of both landscape and knitwear. There are several patterns that I would attempt, but the only downside is that as Epstein is not British, the yarns are not ALWAYS available in the UK and you have to be determined/experienced enough to find alternatives (or have a good yarn outlet who will do it for you). All in all, great value and I would buy her books again.
