Still a worthy addition to one's pocket
As a long-time fan of the Palm lineup, the Tungsten T3 has to be their finest achievement in terms of portability and design. The operating system was always the winning feature of Palm. There is no lag to speak of during navigation. Launching programs from the on-board memory is essentially instantaneous, with a slight delay when launching from an SD card (limited to 1GB). Despite being a touch-sensitive device, it requires a stylus to respond correctly, and uses the old-style approach to navigation, e.g.: scroll bars and a 5-way button - none of this swiping malarkey! Synchronisation had been limited to Windows XP, until HP stepped in, and now the PC software (Palm Desktop 6.2) should run on Windows 7. The best feature of the T3 is the 480x320 screen. There are some problems, but which mostly have work-arounds: Battery lifetime is quite short, but can be extended by underclocking, as most apps run fine between 100-200MHz. The screen surface can vibrate rather noisily, and it appears that build-quality has been erratic in this regard, some are fine, others are awful! A screen-protector will help reduce the high-pitched resonance, and running the system clock at 133-166Mhz can effectively take the vibration out of audible range. There is an insane quantity of software available for Palm. Most of Astraware's games are available and the open-source community has been very busy in all aspects of productivity and gaming. Clearly a 'legacy' device now, but with plenty of potential. However, a little technical know-how is required to get the most from it.

With this particular item, I had to download information from internet as it did not come with information or CD. Lack of CD has caused problems because I am, at present, unable to download from the hand held to the computer which is one of the features I most wanted. I had an older PDA type (Sharp Electronic Organiser) which is still excellent but, due to the very bright sunshine where I live, is not so easy to read as the Tungsten. The facility to download music, documents and photos is very good. Especially as I am able to use an extra memory card to add items. Despite its limitations due to being an older model and not having the CD I am very pleased with the item.With this particular item, I had to download information from internet as it did not come with information or CD. Very Useful Handheld
The T3 has been out for some years, but if you don't want a camera,phone included still one of the best, with a large screen. I have an aditional T3 in my workshop,using (Titrax) for timing work done on jobs via one of the many free downloads available from the internet. My other free downloads include dictonary,spellcheck, planitarium,and even the Bible. So much information can be in one place. Back-ups are easy -either via computer or removable SD card. On the whole a very useful item. Would recommend.The T3 has been out for some years, but if you don't want a camera,phone included still one of the best, with a large screen. Palm Tungsten™ T3 Handheld
Great device and the fact that it is not a phone nor does it have built in camera is an advantage to me as I can take it places where cameras, phones are frowned upon. I had to upgrade my computer and went in to a panic when windows 7 would not sync to it via the USB but it actually sync's faster using bluetooth so all is well.
