But the Midwestern couple's dream vacation turns into an urban nightmare as they experience a seemingly endless series of travel mishaps: diverted flights, lost luggage, missed trains, cancelled hotel reservations, muggers in Central Park, unfriendly locals, and even a police chase or two. This hilarious, fish-out-of-water comedy was penned by playwright Neil Simon specifically for the big screen and boasts a comically frenetic pace, hilarious performances from the harried leads, and a glimpse into the gritty urban reality of 1970s New York.

    A well kept secret of a movie - absolutely hilarious!

    In its day this movie made more money compared to its production cost than any other movie had made. From early in the movie this likable couple has the most ridiculous things happen to them on a trip to New York City, including the husband being chased in Central Park by a mounted NYPD officer. I bought this for a sister in law who has recently moved from her home of 60+ years and is now in assisted living far from her longtime home town. We are giving her a portable DVD player and several funny movies for Christmas, and this is one of those movies. Other family members will be giving her DVDs, too. Soon she'll have something to watch other than TV.

    Another Neil Simon Blockbuster!

    This movie was a constant stream of laughs & giggles! From head to toe It was a catastrophe of epic mishaps! A movie definitely worth spending your time & small amount of money on. Jack Lemmon is a comic card with his picky, fretful, & spiteful attitude about the world around him & Sandy Dennis plays a very whinny, nerdy, & complaining character in the movie as they both face many obstacles getting in the way of George's (Jack Lemmon) job interview. It's a must see! Highly recommended!

    Very cute film.

    Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis are the perfect choice for George and Gwen Kellerman. And the supporting cast is great also. When I first saw this film years ago, My family and I thought it was the funniest film we had ever seen, and seeing it years later, I still think so. Thanks for it seller.

    Oldie but Goodie!

    This is an Older Movie, ( 1970) but I liked it better than the newer one. Quite a bit happens to this Suburban Ohio couple in the Big Apple of 1970. Worth Watching.👍👍
