Works great, for wider area, slides good, good value
I have bought about 10 of these gates over the years. It works great for the larger space needed between my living room and kitchen/dining area to keep the dogs separate. Slides easy and works good. I have had my dogs chew a couple, (wood) and I have had most eventually wear out and break on the top plastic part that slides into eachother, 3 pieces to open wide. But I can't really complain, because we give it allot of wear and tear and abuse, and get decent amount of time out of them. I will keep buying them as each eventually wears out, and it is what works best for my opening space.I have bought about 10 of these gates over the years. Very disappointed in that this is an EvenFlo product, one that I have respected for many years.
This product, if installed to manufacturer's specs drags across the opening since it droops. Since we are using it for pet control, I moved the screweyes about two inches higher and it kind of compensates, but doesn't look like it was installed properly when opened. In all honesty, the company sent me another and I am in process of shipping theirs back. Would not suggest this item. Made it work, but oh, well........This product, if installed to manufacturer's specs drags across the opening since it droops. They are great but break easily.
The first one I got broke about 6 months after purchase. But it fit our needs so well I bought another one. This one, I kid you not. Broke at a knot coming out of the shipping box, and may have already been broken when it got here. Instead of sending it back. I fixed it by drilling holes on either side of the break. Then I strung some copper wire through the holes and twisted it tight. All I had to do then was hide the pokey bits. My kids are older and it’s at the bottom so I don’t worry about them loosing an eye. Plus we just use it to keep them out of the kitchen thus insuring they don’t burn the house downThe first one I got broke about 6 months after purchase. Nice Gate So I thought
Purchased gate in Nov 2017, started having trouble opening in Dec, and now Jan 2019, gate would not slide open. In comparing this gate with my original one from years ago, this one is made very cheaply. So my suggestion is do not purchase this item does not work properly. Had to break part of it to make it acceptable to put out in trash. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID
