ALWAYS HAPPY WITH ARCHOS, QUALITY BUILD
THEY HAVE TO BE RESET SOMETIMES, AND R PROBLOMATIC IN THIS REGARD AND THE BATTERY DID NOT LAST, BUT IT WAS SECOND HAND AFTER ALL, BUT AM STILL PLEASED WITH ARCHOS, AS ALWAYS THEY MAKE GOOD GEAR I HAVE SEVERAL PRODUCTS BY ARCHOS

cheap alternative to an ipad

Archos 705 - Not good for in car use
Very poor product. It keeps loosing it's tag database and has no option to rebuild it, leaving me with only 5 albums available out of the 100+ which are actually on the device. The quality of the software lets it down. The UI feels sluggish. I was annoyed to find that when I tried to browse the web it could only use it's browser (opera) to take me to a web page to download opera for a fee. The headphone volume output is okay, but when used as a line output (listed as a feature) then the volume is 50% of what is expected. Which is disappointing as the device is too big to carry around as a daily music player. I bought the product to use in the car for long journeys as it was cheaper than an ipod for it's capacity. As it keeps loosing the tag database when I am 6 hours away from a PC ... Very poor product. does wat i want at a good price.
second hand so carnt comment on battery life . reasonable touch screen. software a bit creaky but does the job. seems to hang when i use the wifi but again, i havnt done a factory reset yet and that might help. i use it to play my mp3's so again no comment on video but seems ok. overall, using it as a huge mp3 that can access my usb hdd, its the dogs.

I bought this Archos to replace my old one which has given up the ghost. I have used mine so much over the 3 years i had it, It is fair to say there are some niggles with it - never have managed to master recording from tv directly, but for watching films, playing music etc whiling away the hours as i worked night shifts it has been brilliant, Was debating whether to invest in a tablet but Archos just smashes them out the water.I bought this Archos to replace my old one which has given up the ghost.
