About this product

Product Information

Need for Speed: Shift represents both a literal and figurative changing of gears for EA's popular acing series, as primary development duties have been transferred from EA Black Box to Slightly Mad Studios, and the gameplay moves from arcade-style action to physics-based simulation. Everything in Shift is designed to convey a sense of realism, from the cockpit view and disorienting effects of crashes, to the more than 70 licensed vehicles and 15 real-world courses. A 3D heads-up display mimics the movements of a driver's head, while depth-of-field effects blur the screen to simulate speed, inertia, and G-forces.

The "Career" mode finds players participating in traditional circuits, sprints, time trials, drifting events, and model-specific races. Finishing on the podium or completing specific in-race tasks earns players stars that help unlock more events. Each event contributes information to a "Driver Profile" system that records the way players behave on the track, branding them as either precision drivers or aggressive drivers, and keeps track of how "good" players are with a "Driver Level" ranking. Gamers can take their driver level all the way up to 50, unlocking new vehicles, accessories, and garage slots at ever step. Need for Speed: Shift supports both local and online multiplayer racing.

    Pleasant surprise

Gameplay is straightforward, story is better than average, graphics are really good. I didn't really expect to like this game much, but I do. If you like shooters that aren't too difficult and at least attempt a plot you should give this a try.

  • Awesome product! Great value for the money

the graphics are not like grid but the gameplay and fun are much higher! Sit down and hang on, because Need for Speed SHIFT is in stores now and ready to take you for the most thrilling ride you can go on without leaving your living room. Accolades are pouring in from the gaming press, with IGN.com giving SHIFT a 9.0/10 score and the Editors’ Choice Award, calling it “a glorious return to greatness,” and The Official Xbox Magazine giving the game a 9/10, saying SHIFT is “..Literally the first time a videogame has ever made me think ‘Holy crap.. maybe I should slow down.’” Need for Speed SHIFT is first-person driving. Feel the power of a McLaren F1 from inside the cockpit with the new in-car perspective that IGN says makes the driving experience “so close to the real thing.” Strap ...

  • has potential but underivable cars... too bad...

I LOVE racing games... and I love the potential this game has, the ONLY thing I hate about this game is the cars are almost impossible to drive... something is seriously wrong with the handling of the cars... I spent hours tweaking the setup and it only helped a little... it should not be this hard to handle the car... There has to be a patch out there to help this... the car bounces around unless you are 101 % super smooth, and even then, ... also the Anti lock brakes are ridiculous, it takes a quarter miles to stop from top speed... it helped to remove this feature and go with no assist, but then the car unsettles itself under breaking and starts bouncing... I've driven plenty of simulation and arcade racing games to know there is a serious problem with this game... it's too ...

  • Great game!

This is definatly a game for the avid racer. This isn't just another crash and smash. Interfaces well enough with my Logitec GT wheel/pedals, though the feedback input from race conditions are a little lacking. Load times are a little annoying but tolerable. They drop you right into racing without much intro and workup, so this is a good one for those who know how use racing games. The scoring system is nice and the difficulty levels are well done. Pricing for cars and upgrades is reasonable and realistic. Though if you tier up you don't get to do the remaining tracks(if you wanted the chance to run them for points/ect). Worth the price, Stays interesting through the whole play. Be warned, the AO Drivers don't mind pushing you around!
