Initially the board did not boot with a memory error with BIOS version 3.40. switching the bios to the B bank which had 1.10 the board booted, have updated to 2.00 and the board still boots so something in the 3.x BIOS breaks compatibility with these modules. will be buying 3 more to populate all 4 channels.
