In this unique mobster movie, Scott Baio heads up a prepubescent cast as the title character, a child gangster determined to rule over New York City. Instead of throwing fists or bullets, the Prohibition-era kiddie mobsters sling confections at one another. When Bugsy learns that a rival gang has developed a secret weapon capable of firing sweets as quick as a machine gun shoots bullets, he sets out to heist the high-tech tart-launcher.<BR>BUGSY MALONE, director Alan Parker's first feature, cleverly spoofs the rich, cliche-ridden history of films about organized crime while lightly mocking the childlike, selfish traits of grown-ups. The engaging silliness is periodically spirited forward by several song-and-dance numbers composed by bubblegum pop maestro Paul Williams.

    An unusual classic, absolutely wonderful

    What an amazing film. The idea of a gangster musical featuring only young actors is daring but brilliantly successful. The sets and costumes are stunning and the characters are really well cast. Fantastic performances from Scott Baio and a very young Jodie Foster. Look out for other famous faces in debut roles. Lovely choreography and memorable songs, really memorable.

    Great film and on time delivery, well protected.

    Our child loves singing and dancing (don’t they all?!) it’s a bit of a classic from my younger days and we thought she might love it, she does!     I bought this DVD mainly because my grandson was interested in watching it. He had heard his mother and aunty talk about a school performance of the show from their childhood. He loves the songs so much that he keeps singing them. When we recently attended a wedding party, he insisted on going in a Bugsy Malone outfit. Have to say, he looked pretty cool. Great film.

    Kiddies delight

    Bought this for our 5 year old grandson who loves musicals. Trying to get him away from his favourite (Annie) at the moment to watch Bugsy Malone was quite a challenge BUT he's now hooked on Bugsy. Great value for loads of entertainment.
