  • Adventure on the High Seas in WW2

I first got this book as a member of the Military Book Club in 1978. I was a teenager and read a lot of war books. I will never forget the impression U-Boat War made on me then. This gritty first-person photo journal of a submariner's life aboard a U-Boat in World War 2 is immersive and exciting. It's easy to put yourself in the sailor's shoes and become drawn into the story. An excellent hardcover for any military or WW2 collection.

  • Excellent book, very facffull and well illustraded.

This book is actually the photo album that is seperate from the novel. To fully understand what is going on in the pictures, you have to read the novel, which has the same name.I purchased this book because I read the novel back in 1980. The movie " das boot" came out in 1981, which is based on this novel. I saw this book in a library in Germany and have been looking for it ever since. It has been out of print for many years, so copies are hard to come by.I recommend it to any one who loves the sea.

  • A unique and outstanding book.

This copy was purchased as a Christmas gift for a Vietnam-era Swift Boat commander. He found the text and photos to be exceptional, especially given his background as a naval officer. I would recommend this volume to anyone with an interest in WWII from the unique perspective of a U-boat crew.

  • Great for technical and leisure reading

This book is the true account of a writer aboard a u-boat during the war, not on testing or after the war, but during battles. Nothing but facts and the kind of detail only certain people can fully appreciate. Not a difficult read but make time since this book is not short.
